Sugar processing combines long seasonal operating periods with wet, fibrous material and drive loads that can change quickly as cane or product flow varies. Bushings may appear on cane carriers, elevators, pump drives and auxiliary pulleys, each with a different torque and shaft size.
The correct bushing is selected from the actual drive connection. A carrier may use a heavy Taper Lock family, while a smaller pump or conveyor can use a compact model. Wet sticky contamination makes maintenance discipline especially important because fretting and corrosion can be hidden until the joint is opened.

Why heavy-duty ranges may be required
Large cane-handling and process drives can use shafts beyond the compact EP taper-lock families. EP-6050 through EP-120100 provide larger geometry and bore ranges for heavy applications. They are not “sugar mill models”; they are large bushing families that must still be checked against the actual hub, shaft and torque.

Maintenance through the crushing season
Watch for movement, fretting debris, abnormal vibration and key hammering during planned inspections. If a joint must be opened, clean fibrous residue and corrosion before moving screws into removal positions. Do not wait for the keyway to become visibly elongated before investigating repeated looseness.
Off-season work is the best time to measure
During a major shutdown, record shaft diameters, keyways, hub references and EP or existing bushing codes for critical drives. Replace damaged fasteners and inspect taper faces. This creates a reliable spare list before the next season instead of trying to identify a failed bushing during production.
RFQ data for sugar-industry drives
Send the drive location, shaft bore, model if known, keyway, hub/sprocket or pulley reference, power and speed at the bushing shaft, duty description and corrosion exposure. For large or uncertain parts, a drawing or measured sketch is strongly preferred.
